I have had the pleasure of visiting Jeff Ruby's twice in the last few months. I hope you see that I do not often write 5 star reviews. This is quite possibly my favorite restaurant in the country.

Jeff Ruby's slogan is "culinary entertainment." This is the best way I could describe the experience. If you come hungry, you will leave happy.

The decor is amazing. It looks as if the place is a swanky 20's joint with a modern twist. There is a beautiful aquarium that is immaculately kept.

The service and waitstaff are excellent, and I am a harsh critic. You will likely have no issues. Period.

The food is incredible. Steaks are amazing, along with the lobster mashed potatoes.

If i had to find negatives, I would say the wine list is a tad overpriced. I do not mind paying the high prices during such an outstanding occasion.

I do not need to say more. Go to Jeff Ruby's.

The atmosphere was amazing. We had a group of 6 of us and we were taken care of to the 9's. (does that make sense?) The wine selection is fantastic. The menu is quite impressive and the service was excellent.

My only complaint was that, after stating I was a vegetarian and need to know the vegetarian options, my appetizer came out with bacon on it.

My parents came to town and asked around at their hotel for recommendations, and thus we went to Jeff Ruby's.

We started off with the Louisville roll (sushi at a steakhouse..!??), which was PHENOMENAL. I really wished there was more (only 5 pieces) and the crab soup, which had TONS of crab meat. Definitely worth the price. We then had the Freddie salad (romaine, bacon, tomato, ranch dressing) - EXCELLENT bacon - and the iceberg wedge.

For main course, I got the barrel-cut filet. It arrived just as ordered - a perfect medium rare. My mom ordered her petit filet medium, and it came out a little too rare for her tastes, but she enjoyed it nonetheless. Both of us took home leftovers - portions were delightfully large. Dad got the filet topped with crab meat and asparagus - no leftovers. Sides are all a la carte - we got the lobster mashed potatoes (quite possibly the best mashed I've ever had), jumbo baked potato, and creamed spinach. The only negative of the meal was the creamed spinach - a touch too much nutmeg.

For dessert we split the house-made jalapeno pineapple ice cream. It was a glorious sensory experience and certainly unique. A great end to the meal.
