Former Kansas and Louisville forward David Padgett was named an assistant coach under Todd Howard at IUPUI, the school announced Tuesday.
Padgett was the assistant strength coach under Rick Pitino for one season before landing in Indianapolis.
“We are extremely excited about adding David to our basketball staff,” Howard said in a release on the school’s website.
“He will bring a wealth of success to our program. Having been recruited at the highest level as a McDonald’s All-American and being part of Elite 8 and Final Four teams, I know he is ready to bring his experiences to our student-athletes.”
Padgett (below, left) was a three-year starter and captain for the Cardinals, whom he led to the Elite Eight during his senior season. He redshirted during Louisville’s 2005 Final Four run after transferring from Kansas.
He went undrafted but played professionally in Spain and the Canary Islands.
