Quantity and Quality

It is our goal to provide you with the service and knowledge that enables you to see that all paving contractors treat you equally and that the service rendered to you will provide you with the quality driveway that you are looking for. Did you know that for every 1000 sq ft of area paved, it would require 12.2 tons of asphalt material to be compacted to a depth of 2 inches thick? Remember, with quantity comes quality so when considering price alone, you may become the victim of the paving contractor who does not always measure proper quantity. Also, remember that we at R.L. Harrison Paving will always provide our customers with tonnage tickets upon request and we always provide quantity and quality.

Price Conscious Option

During these hard economic times many people are looking for ways to save some money. To accommodate this, R.L. Harrison Paving offers an affordable alternative to hot mix asphalt called Chip Sealing. It is perfect for long lanes and parking areas and provides maintenance free surfaces for 7 to 10 years. The Chip Sealing method was used to lay down the first roads built in our country is also know as “tar and chip” and will provide a solid, dust free, and maintenance free surface.

Chip Sealing Process

• Existing base is graded and shaped
• The shaped area is then compacted
• A layer of special asphalt cement is applied to the area with an oil distributor
• Number 9 stone is applied to the oil
• Area is then compacted with a vibratory roller
• The process is completed a second time for a two coat finish
